Blessing of the Urns
March 12, 2021Honey Bee Experience Hive Painting
March 25, 2021Join us at this new, small event that introduces the community to the mysterious praying mantis on Sunday, May 2nd from 10 am to 11 am. While they often appear frightening at first glance, these insects are beneficial friends that naturally control pest populations to promote healthy, ecological balances within gardens. At this event, guests will release egg casings among the many gardens at Pinelawn, each of which contains 100-200 baby mantises when they hatch!
What’s included:
- Learn about the mysterious praying mantis and how they are beneficial insects
- See live praying mantis babies up close
- Q&A with Pinelawn staff about why they are used on property
- Find out what happens when an egg casing hatches
- Help Pinelawn staff distribute egg casings within a garden at Pinelawn
After the presentation at our Louis Natalie Mall, guests will be led (each family in their own vehicles) to a garden within Pinelawn’s memorial park to distribute the egg casings. Guests will be able to leave at their leisure from that final location.
All members of the community are invited, but registration is required. Light pre-packaged refreshments will be served. This event will practice social distancing and masks must be worn by all guests at all times.
