Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum To Release 150,000 Ladybugs To Naturally Control Harmful Pests At Their Ladybug Release Event
July 12, 2019Honey Bee Experience On Sunday, October 6th
September 9, 2019Thank you to everyone who attended our Ladybug Release Event on Sunday, August 4th in Farmingdale, New York. This event was hugely successful thanks to the 120 plus attendees who were eager to help demonstrate integrated pest management. Attendees were left in awe of the display of over 150,000 ladybugs as they were released into our Rose Garden in order to naturally control a common pest known as the Aphid. Additionally, this educational family-friendly event offered children the opportunity to create their very own handprint ladybugs to bring home and showcase all they learned from the event.
“We were ecstatic to see the great turnout for this year’s Ladybug Release Event! We love having the opportunity to be an educational resource in the community while also offering families a fun activity to enjoy together,” said Justin Locke, President of Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum.
By the end of the event children and adults alike left more knowledgeable and excited about natural ways to preserve and protect plants. Here’s what some of the attendees had to say about their experience at the Ladybug Release:
“We attended the Ladybug Release. It was so wonderful. My boys had a fantastic time. They learned about the ladybugs and loved having them crawl all over. It was very organized, educational and fun!!” – Melissa D.
“First I want to say the Ladybug event was great! My family had an amazing time and the twins couldn’t stop talking about it. Kudos to you and your team!” – Francesca L.
“The Ladybug release was an awesome event for all ages. My grandchild (age 4) loved the activity and enjoyed the actual release. She has never touched so many Ladybugs but the staff made it enjoyable and taught us about the importance of Ladybugs in the environment. This event was free with lots of snacks and drinks for all. I can’t wait until next year.” – Leslie D.
