January 2, 2020As a frequent contributor in the Farmingdale, NY area, Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum has been dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. They accomplish this by offering educational events on their grounds such as their annual Honey Bee Experience and Ladybug Release, as well as multiple fundraising efforts for programs such as General Needs, which provides Long Island Veterans and their families with basic necessities.
Pinelawn has continued their efforts in community philanthropy with their recent Toy Drive, which donated toys through the Mercy Inn Food Pantry in Wyandanch, NY. The donated toys were given to approximately 45 children who either utilize Mercy Inn’s pantry services or are enrolled in Trinity Lutheran Church’s after school program. The drive gathered over 100 gifts, which were directly taken from the children’s wish lists and consisted of pajamas, winter clothing, dolls, and other toys plus extra items, all purchased and donated by the Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum staff.
“With the holiday season being difficult for many families, we felt it was important to give back to the community in a way that can make a positive impact on those who may be struggling. We are grateful that we were able to come together to bring happiness to these children during this time of year,” said Justin Locke, President of Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum.
The Promise of Pinelawn, which outlines Pinelawn’s guiding principals states that “every effort will be made to impart such an air of cheerfulness to all,” while this statement was made in regards to the grounds, Pinelawn now applies this statement to their community philanthropic efforts. In order to continue these efforts, Pinelawn Memorial Park staff has additional volunteer projects scheduled throughout the upcoming year. Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum’s altruism coupled with their passion for being an educational resource has made them an integral part of the community.
